"Look at this book, it's probably a demon's trap. Let's write in it!" Yes, Dorian, this is one of your best ideas yet. Write in the demon journal for no other reason than to satisfy your own curiosity. You haven't learned anything.
I amend: Write to yourself in the demon journal. That's better.

Element Zero you say? What are the usual applications of it?

Date: 2015-08-03 04:48 am (UTC)From:Eezo's used to generate artificial gravity, manufactur high-strength construction materials, and most commonly, faster-than-light space travel. Without causing time dilation. Which is not a pleasant experience.
It's also a mutagenic. Children of some species develop biotics when exposed to eezo dust. Or cancer, though the Council rarely talks about that aspect.

[A draw of a light-blue glowing stone is made]
Lyrium has many aplications here and it's a very interesting mineral. It's toxic to everyone, save for the dwarves, and can attune your connection to the Fade. That's why it's harmless to the dwarves, unless when it suddenly blows, without warning. Mages can drink lyrium potions to recover their lost magical energy during a battle and templars can drink it to power their magic disrupting skills. With lyrium and a certain ritual, it's possible for a mage to enter the Fade consciously.

You see, there is the material world, the place where we are born, raised and live. This world is separeted from the Fade by a invisible barrier we call The Veil, this way, people and spirit/demons will be appart. When an elf, or a human, or a qunari sleeps, their consciousness go for a walk in the Fade, that's why we also call it the dream realm. If said elf/human/qunari happens to be a mage, they can keep their consciousness while in the Fade and control their dreams to a certain point.
But still, to enter the Fade physically isn't common. You need powerful magic to tear open a hole in the Veil, so, to bring this whole fortress would require a amount so large of magic I can't even wrap my mind on it. It's simply off anything we have ever seen.
