I must say, journals make my life a lot easier.

I tried to keep a voice log during a few missions when I was still pretty much just a kid. I listened to them again later and was only embarrassed.

What is the use for such title in a place like this?
It's easy to keep track of a small group, like us, especially when most of them knows me. But your... crew is very intriguing, I must say. I was hoping to get to know you and your friends.

Intriguing is one way to put it. I'd offer to answer questions, but even I'm not sure what's going on with us anymore.

We could keep it simple and start with: Where are you from? How is your reality like?

I'm from a planet called Palaven. Trebia system in the Apien Crest of the Milky Way Galaxy. Which I'm going to wager a guess doesn't mean a whole lot to you. But, to most humans, I'm "from space." I'm an "alien," and my reality is really grim with a lot of big guns.

Well, then your reality isn't that far from ours. But instead of 'big guns' we have 'great magic'.

You mentioned you're from another planet... is there a chance this place, Thedas, is hidden somewhere on the cosmos where you came from?

Unless it's somewhere in the very far reaches of the Outer Rim, probably not. But, who knows? It might actually be all the way out there. Might have even escaped the Reapers' notice.

No one's told you about them, yet? It's about all we could talk about in the end...

To shorten the story, they're an ancient race of machines that have brought it upon themselves to "save" everyone by culling civilizations in cycles when they get too advanced.

They had some grand idea that they were saving us from ourselves.
