((OOC Note: In order to clear up confusion about the Envy demon: as far as the "present" timeline is concerned it is dead. However, that scene (due to scheduling conflicts etc) was never actually RPed. It was Evelea's personal baddy, so I'm writing a journal entry from her perspective about how she remembers the final encounter going. Because of the nature of character's memories here, this might not be the only version of that fight, but as far as the state of the game world is concerned (not counting dangling threads ie The Warden Demon Hunt thread which is essentially back-dated to "a few days ago") and with new characters dropping in, that specific threat has been solved. If you have any questions about that, PMs or OOC queries are totally welcome!))
It's dead, and I'm not sure of what that makes me, even less sure of... well if the envy demon that replaced me is gone before it could do all those terrible things, what does that mean for my world?
Things feel...shifty. Like I'm remembering different things at different moments, but for now, this is what I remember.
We killed the demon in the lower courtyard, near the stables, and it took many of us. The Warden Commander and her friends drove it to ground twice before it was finally cornered, with no where else to escape.
Sera was raining arrows from the roof. Sometimes I think that there were bolts from Varric too, but other times I'm not certain.
I was there, of that I'm sure, because when it fell, my mark woke and the pain was terrible. It felt like I was being torn out, or away, and the green light was all I could see. But when it faded I was myself, and Envy was grease and ash and the stench of metal.
I remember Commander Cullen confronting it with implacable fury, and my teeth still ache with the force of the smites he threw at it. I haven't asked him yet if he remembers it the same.
I know Sera thinks it happened on the battlements above the stables, not in the courtyard below, and she swears that Dagna threw veilfire grenades at it from a high window of the Mage's Tower.
That doesn't sound wrong, but it isn't what I remember.
So, for now, all I know, all that I know for certain, is that it was killed. Maybe there are other demons near? Or other fell things. And we still have no clues as to why we have been brought here.
