RP: Neria, Open

Sigrun, after the initial shock of Dagna's disappearance, had proceeded to freak out. And run through the entire mage tower searching and calling for her at least three times, the last time encouraging Jager to sniff around and see if he could find any trace of the other dwarf. She ignored how futile this probably was since Dagna had literally disappeared right in front of her.

Eventually, With Jager whining and pacing by her side, she gave up and stuffed her daggers into various sheaths and hiding places, tucked away her journal, and ran out to find the Commander.

Neria was in the tavern, reading and making notes about her research. Hiding on plain sight seemed way better than risking an ambush in the underground library.

Things kept calm, too calm for the whole problem with Meredith and the Eluvian making people vanish. And Neria didn't like calm.

Jager lead Sigrun to the tavern, and she burst through the door with a bang, looking around wildly, the dagger in her forearm sheath half-drawn in her palm just for the reassuring weight of it.

"Commander!" she panted when she spotted Neria, and saw that she was alone. "We're in deep nugshit, Commander, I don't know what happened, some sodding magic shit probably, but Dagna is gone!"

Neria turned, startled, almost dropping the book she had in hands.

"Sigrun, breath." she placed her hands over her shoulders "What do you mean she is gone?"

Sigrun waved both her hands wildly.

"She just! Disappeared! Vanished! Literally right in front of my eyes. One moment, there, giggling at me, pouring some wine, the next, gone! Wine battle smashed on the floor." She didn't seem to be taking Neria's advice about breathing.

"You, my friend, could certainly use some wine now." she handed Sigrun her glass "This looks like what Varric and Cullen said about the Eluvian." she tapped her chin, thinking "They came back on their own, the same way they were gone..." and she glanced at Sigrun, worried "... or we can ask the Inquisitor for a way to look for her."

Sigrun shook her head, rocking back and forth with her pent-up concern and, yes, panic. She lifted the wineglass to her lips with a shaky hand, despite the fact that wine had always been a bit sweet for her tastes.

"I don't know, Commander, I don't know. I just - she's not a fighter, and she didn't have any grenades or anything on her, so if she gets in trouble she's going to be completely defenseless, and then she was going to do something with that red lyrium sword but she didn't get to it yet, and who's gonna make that thing safe now? And, and, what if she gets hurt?"

Her blue eyes were really, really big in her face.

Neria kept her voice as calm as she could.

"I understand Sigrun. Your concern is perfectly reasonable. Let's go talk to the Inquisitor and see what we can do from here, yes?"

Sigrun handed back the wineglass and nodded several times.

"All right...all right," she said, trying to quell her jittery panic. It surprised her, the force of her emotions - fear was understandable, but the fierce protectiveness welling up in her chest was unexpected. The thought of Dagna, alone, unprotected, who knows where, made her more anxious than she could ever remember being - since, well, Dust Town, probably.

Neria wrote a quick note on her journal, without glancing at the dwarf.

"I never thought I would ever see you so worried about someone." her lips curved with a simple smile "I'm glad you two are getting along."

"Getting along...yes," Sigrun said, distractedly, thinking of Dagna's laugh and her blush and the feel of Dagna's lips against hers. To say they were getting along didn't quite suffice for the emotions roiling through her.

Her smiled widened a bit. 'The cat who ate the canary' she could even hear Wynne say.

"Dagna will be just fine, Sigrun. She's more resourceful than we think."

"Yeah...yeah, you're right, Commander," Sigrun nodded, thinking about how brave and quick on her feet Dagna had been when the envy demon had appeared. Not afraid till after, and her fear didn't cripple her in a fight, and that was one of the most important things.

Aria ran all the way down to the Herald's Rest, already panting when she opened the door all of sudden.

"Ok! Where's Meredith!?"

She yelped at the large mabari hound coming to see her, stepping back for a brief second.

"Jäger, sit."

The mabari settled, his tiny tail still wagging.

"I'm afraid Meredith is not the main concern is this matter, though she is related. Dagna is gone."

Sigrun nodded several times. "She just poofed, Inquisitor! Disappeared right before my eyes." Her voice was still uneven, her concern writ large across her face.

"Well, shit."

Aria seemed unimpressed.
Since the past and the dead started pouring from nowhere, little could in fact impress Aria by now. She nodded to herself, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "So... you want to wander after her, using the Eluvian, I take it? That freaking elven shite no one knows how to use. To search her the gods know where?" she quirked an eyebrow, serious "You know this has everything to go wrong right? In ways we can't even imagine?"

"Yes, Inquisitor, we are aware. But Dagna is an old friend, and unlike the rest of us, she's not a fighter. We fear for her life and you're the only one who can tell us what can we do in a moment like this."

She kept her tone calm and polite, studying the Inquisitor's expression.

Sigrun bristled at the Inquisitor's disinterested tone. This was who Dagna had been working for? She had been instrumental in helping to stop Corypheus, ask anyone, and Lavellan didn't even seem to care that she was missing.

She barely managed to hold in a derisive snort because Neria was being so calm and reasonable (and had said something about making friends, when they'd first arrived), but consoled herself with a renewed resolution to kidnap Dagna once they made it out of this stone-damned shithole.

Aria stared both women for some time, before rolling her eyes in a playful manner.

"Sure, why not, let's go." she grinned "The tiny red-head is not disappearing on my watch. Besides, odds are we'll only find supplies out of here, and out of here is through that fucking Eluvian. Gather your shit ladies, we're going on an adventure."

Neria frowned, slightly surprised by her answer.

"That's... it? We are ready to go?"

Sigrun looked a little queasy at the abruptness of this plan, although the thought of Dagna alone somewhere made her shove the feeling down slightly. She tugged at Neria's sleeve.

"Commander, uh, maybe you should let the Constable know before we go charging off?"

"The... who?" Aria quirked an eyebrow "No, of course we need preparations. Warn everyone, say what we're about to do. Cross our fingers and hope this Fade shite send them another Inquisitor capable of dealing with the Eluvian, in case we need rescuing or someone to retrieve our bodies."

She grinned "I just want to make sure you understand what kind of shithole we're about to enter."

"Oh, believe me, I understand the risks." she glanced at Sigrun "Perhaps I should bring Alistair with us. I already worried the Void out of him with Meredith coming after me, I don't think it's fair to leave him behind."

Sigrun nodded, put more at ease by Neria's offer to bring Alistair with, and she squinted at the Inquisitor.

"With all due respect, Inquisitor," she said. "We're Wardens. We're used to shitholes. Dagna, not so much."

"But your shitholes are known shitholes. Well, sort of. What is happening here, now, is different from everything I've ever faced, and even contradicts some past rules. This is the shithole I'm talking about."

"We'll have to adjust, naturally." Neria nodded "But we'll handle it."

She smiled, confident.

Sigrun scrunched up her nose. After a moment, she nodded.

"Courage and recklessness in equal amounts. I like it." she laughed "Go make your preparations and meet me by the Eluvian room. I'll try to convince Cullen and Varric we're not going to die."

((ooc: So, we're going to make another thread for the Eluvian trip, right? Who open it?))

(OOC: I would offer, but I'm not sure exactly where we're going and whatnot. Aria, you have any ideas?)

((ooc: I do have some ideas, but I guess we should also check with Dagna to see if she has thoughts about it, since we're going to rescue her. What I have in mind can mostly be adjusted anywhere: a bit of dungeon crawling in the Crossroads, finding an active Eluvian, entering it, looking for supplies, nothing too fancy. I don't have any preference regarding the scenario, modern, sci-fi, whatever, I'm up for anything.))

(OOC: Okay, so Dagna was thinking scifi, perhaps mildly utopic (taking the aesthetics of that George Clooney movie Tomorrowland as a general feel, which I have not seen personally, but I think we could work with). She's hoping for a more lighthearted feel, so Dagna being fascinated by technology, us bumbling around with it, and being stumped trying to find her in a huge cityscape, that kind of thing. What do you guys think?)
