Inquisitor Evelea Trevelyan is currently in our cells. She has been given food, blankets, everything she needs for her comfort while it is decided what is to be done.

In my world, the Herald has committed more war crimes and atrocities than I care to name, all in the pursuit of personal power and glory. She is the most manipulative, most deceitful, most cunning, and most evil person I have ever had the misfortune to meet, and my last memories are of Cassandra and I dying to defeat her rein of blood.

But we're not in my world any longer, and there must be law and order even here.

There will be a trial. Not to determine her guilt or innocence--that cannot be determined here--but whether she will or will not be a danger to us all. I will begin making the necessary preparations as quickly as possible so that she need not remain imprisoned if it is decided she cannot do harm here.

ETA: Again, I stress that we should act quickly. Anders, would you be willing to be a large part of this? You would be ideal, and you could select the deciding voices with the Warden. I trust you both to be just. Alistair and I will recuse ourselves from the decision so there's no Templar involvement. What matters is whether she is safe and whether she is free of demon influence. That is what you need to determine, if you are willing.

I will need your help keeping guard. She must be kept Silenced until a jury decides she is safe to be amongst us. I know you left your Templar training--did you learn how to make your Silence last for extended time?

The woman you think might have caused this whole crazy Fade holiday is locked in your dungeon and you didn't just chop off her head? I can say I'm honestly surprised. And impressed. Relieved maybe? If she knows what's going on it might help Neria find a way out...

Anyway to answer your question... yes! Sort of. I haven't had a a reason to sustain Silence in a long time (never was my favorite thing, silence) but I can give you at least an couple of hours at a time.

I hope. Bit out of practice but it should work.

And please don't be crazy with a completely innocent woman in the dungeon because that is exactly why I never wanted to take my vows.

For how long do you intend to keep her Silenced? Do you have any idea of how this can affect one's mind?! This is simply inhumane. There are better ways to keep a mage from doing their tricks. I really hope your preparations are quick.

That aside, I doubt she had caused our little trip to the Fade-That-Is-Not-Quite-The-Fade. No living mage has such power and I doubt she can do it just because she is connected to the Veil, somehow.

I would like to talk to her, before the trial if possible.

Creators, I just hope this is not the first sign of how insane this place is making us.

For as short a time as possible. I do know how to can affect a mind over the long term, and I would never be willing to see that happen, even under these impossible conditions.

But I don't suppose it's just to ask you to trust that I am not that type of person. You don't know me and have no reason to have faith in me. You're right. Could you take over watching her? We must keep her mana low enough that she can't hurt anyone if she would seek to. In the meantime, I want to have the meeting within the day to make a decision. It's important that this run as fairly as possible, with all sides aired. Is it not possible Logain may arrive next? Howe? Corypheus? Samson? Bartrand? The man who killed Hawke's mother?

Whether or not she's responsible for this, however, is not material. I'm not interested in putting her on trial for crimes she may not have yet committed. Whether she's safe is what matters. If it is agreed by those who are not myself (as I cannot be trusted to give fair judgement on this) that she is safe to be amongst us, then I'm willing to accept that.

I wanted to, for a moment. I don't think I'd be human if I didn't. But so long as there's any chance she was under control of a demon we could not sense (despite every effort to try), or that she comes from before something changed in her...I couldn't. It wouldn't be just.

We won't need to keep her mana low for long. Neria and hopefully Anders will make a decision soon and she will either be deemed safe and freed or deemed a danger and a solution will be found.

She was sleeping when I went down there earlier to see to her, just a little lump in the corner when I drained her mana, which... wasn't as easy as I remember it, but it worked. I hope.

Cullen, you'll probably have to agree with me that determining if she is safe to be among us or not is a quite abstract matter. I mean, suppose she is the woman who betrayed the whole purpose of the Inquisition: if she is as clever and cunning as you say, she'll just pretend she is good and will use us as she see fit. Such judgement won't prove anything.

I'm sorry to say it, but we will need a leap of faith regarding Lady Trevelyan, to believe she won't just slaughter us. As we need a leap of faith to trust everyone else trapped inside this place. We can't arrest people for crimes they haven't committed and, under these circumstances, we can't arrest people for them being criminals on their realities. So, yes, it pains me to say it, but we can't arrest Loghain for being Loghain, or Howe, or Samson, or Uldred, or anyone else unless they do something that requires such measures. Has she tried to kill you? Or anyone else? If not, I suggest you to release her.

I'll look into her as soon as I can.

I don't know how much of you is the Cullen I met, but from what I can recall, he was fair and kind and those were the things that made me grow fond of him. Don't lose sight of it.

I think you fail to understand that the choice is literally in the hands of you and Anders. I am recused due to unavoidable bias. If it is agreed that she is safe, not touched by a demon, and seems unlikely to be a direct harm, she goes free. If she then betrays us, defensive action can be taken, but we will know that an attempt was made to protect the group from a known threat.

It is, I am sorry, pure madness to put kindness above common sense and caution, especially in a survival situation. If someone arrives who may be demon-touched, it is only logical to take immediate action, assess the threat, and make an informed decision.

I am reasonable, Neria. I am also not kind. I am, however, just and cautious, and while I'd hate for you to think poorly of me, I can't allow emotional manipulation to sway me from pure reason.

As a further sign of faith, and a checks and balance against anyone attempting to throw another into the cells for anything other than true fear of mortal danger, I will put myself up for judgment as well. If I am a danger, I trust that Justice will prevail.

Anders...he's an apostate who was a Warden. He traveled with the Hero of Ferelden for a time, and was close to Hawke and Varric. Any more isn't honestly mine to say, though I'm positive you can find out if you offer anyone a few drinks.

I trust him to be just, at the very least.

She is. I didn't want her to be cold. Could you bring her--and me--blankets and food? As an act of faith in what I am hoping gentle-heartedness does not stop from becoming a fair and balanced method of dealing with potential threats, I am placing myself under review as well. I will be in the cell by hers and will not use my abilities.

Really, Cullen, it's only your word against hers, isn't it? Since you're the only one from a reality where this Inquisitor turned evil? I'm sorry, but I'm not likely to be exactly a fair and impartial judge on this matter, either. I'm always likely to side with the imprisoned mage.

That is what I ask. If it is your belief she is safe and untouched by demons, then I trust that you will act justly. No one should be imprisoned unless they are deemed by reasonable peers to be an active threat to the whole--and considering I am the one who fears she may be a danger, that decision cannot come from me.

And now I get to be your jailor too? Wonderful! You know there was a reason Duncan recruited me to the Wardens and it wasn't just because he thought I was so witty and handsome. It was because being a Templar wasn't really my thing.

I left the Order behind because they were corrupt and their treatment of mages--and the young templars who were innocent of crimes--unfair. I sided with you and Hawke for a reason, Anders. I'm just a man prone to mistakes, but I am trying to be reasonable. We need reason in mad times.

And sorry to partially disagree, but kindness is important as good sense and caution. Kindness is what separetes us from most of our enemies and I am proud to wear my heart on my sleeve.

I clearly don't know what happened between you and this Inquisitor and I also don't know what motivated your decision to put her in the dungeons here, but I fail to see the pure reason involved in this matter.
